Polymorphing and Shapeshifting are often confused to either by the wrong one, so sometimes people think they are shapeshifting when in reality they are polymorphing… While in other cases people simply view them as being exactly the same.
Shapeshifting

Shapeshifting is the ability to be able to change your body into any other living being or well, type of being that you wish. You need to understand how the creature works to correctly shapeshift/the organs, etc. Else you’ll pretty much fuck yourself up. Shapeshifting you can not turn into things that are not living.
Polymorphing

There are multiple versions of polymorphing, the first is simply when a creature has multiple forms it can take on. So in that case Therians can be considered a form of polymorph, as well as Kitsunes, etc. (Kitsunes have polymorphic traits, they can change into any form they wish, but have three base forms, fox form, human form, and fox-human form… While Therians can be considered such by the normal definition, as they have multiple forms, but in their own right are shapeshifters.)
While another exists that is simply when a creature can change into anything they wish, the difference being understanding the organs ain’t necessary nearly as much, but it is preferable… They can also transform into inanimate objects, so it is very much different than Shapeshifting as a whole.
